ROAD TRIP 101 for my clients to keep in mind:
- Do it with an open mind. It is not going to be a relaxing experience, or else, go to a spa. This is going to be a very physical activity, the only rest you can get is the time you’re in the car to the next destination or when we take our bladder breaks or lunch and dinner.
- Take anti-byahilo medicine if you need to. It is going to be a very long drive in a long and winding road.
- Do not eat anything that your stomach isn’t used to for breakfast. The worst thing during road trips is having an upset stomach. Please, don’t soil my Itchy.
- If we are going to be blessed with a very good weather, it is going to be sunshiny all day, hence, wear something comfortable. Comfortable means you can do some cartwheeling and somersaulting in it. It takes death defying acrobatics to get fab pictures. We will not circumnavigate the Metro Manila-Rizal-Laguna-Batangas area to take classroom-like pictures with your oh so generic poses, i.e. holding your collar with a sweet virginal smile. Any Inday can do that with a cellphone camera to send to Dodong. Also, I suggest wearing something dark, white is very restrictive in this aspect. Feel free to dress up though; we have our own wheels so you can wear pretty much anything PHOTOGENIC.
- Do not just focus on the destinations. Observe, criticize, okray anything and everything you’ll see along the way. That’s where the fun is. We have great provincial roads that not everyone, especially those who grew up in decrepit Manila, gets to see everyday. Savor the sights and sounds.
- Take tons of pictures because you might never go back to these places again. My golden rule in traveling: Don’t go to the same place twice unless you are filthy rich or you’re a tourist guide. Always go to a different place for new experiences.
- Leave your worries behind. Don’t think about anything other than yourself. Otherwise, you should have just stayed home and baked. In a road trip, you are single, and singles just wanna have fun!
